This wonderful old earthenware water bottle is from Laos. At one time such vessels would be in common usage but today they are fast disappearing. As the pot is porous, water evaporating on the surface of the pot would ensure that the liquid inside remained cool. An excellent example of the vanishing art of the Laos village potter.
